Since I’m no longer able to purchase craft foam rolls from eNasco, I decided to try out another foam I’d heard of, called volara foam. Unlike craft foam, volara comes in a variety of thicknesses, the thinnest of which is about 3x thicker than craft foam. It’s also less dense, so the surface isn’t as smooth. However, I think it will work well enough for my armoring needs – I’ll be using it for curved segments, with flat areas handled by 1/2″ insulation foam from Home Depot.
